Earthquake, Fault Line Placement

Using the latest geographic information system (GIS) technology combined with the California earthquake fault line database, MSB helps you identify the earthquake fault line nearest to any risk. This information enables you to manage your entire book of business for greater profitability.

Breadth of Data

The California earthquake fault line database contains the location of known fault lines, of at least 10 kilometers in length, throughout the state. Using detailed geographic data, MSB’s Earthquake Database provides you with answers you need to determine the potential risk to insured property in the event of an earthquake.

Automated Accuracy and Efficiency

You receive precise distance to earthquake fault lines on any property because addresses are converted via GIS into exact latitude and longitude coordinates.

Additionally, MSB seamlessly integrates earthquake data with the industry-leading Residential Component Technology® (RCT) property valuation system, hosted on the MSB Express Web platform.

MSB also supports batch geospatial analysis for an existing book of business, providing the results in XML format and enabling you to perform ongoing book management efficiently.

Integrating Fault Line Data with Decisioning Technology

MSB’s physical hazard data expertise includes the ability to link fault line analysis results to complete underwriting decisioning technology from MSB and its sister company MindBox®.  The MSB Express platform gives customers immediate access to fault line data and is your link to the nation’s most complete and user-friendly decisioning technology. With MSB Decisioning, you will also be able to go beyond underwriting guidelines to tier pricing and other rating variables that make fault line hazard information more than just a “go/no-go” decision.
