MSB’s flood and water peril data expertise includes the ability to link flood analysis results to a complete underwriting decisioning technology from MSB and its sister company MindBox®.

With MSB Decisioning, you will also be able to go beyond underwriting guidelines to tier pricing and other rating variables that make water hazard information more than just a “go / no-go” decision.
Water Peril Databases
MSB’s water-related peril databases access advanced geo-spatial and mapping technologies as well as flood zone data from LandAmerica, a leading data research firm. LandAmerica supplies all of the requisite data needed for flood-related programs, including the NFIP program application and underwriting. Flood data elements include:
- Flood zone (determined to address level)
- Base flood elevation (BFE) or depth, as reported on FEMA flood map for applicable flood zones
- In, Out, or Partial designation based on flood zone/risk determined for property
- Distance in feet to nearest special flood hazard area
- Distance in feet to nearest ocean coast
- Distance in feet/miles to nearest intercoastal waterway
- Letter of map revision/amendment effective date, if applicable
- Coastal barrier resource area effective date, if applicable
- Community participation in NFIP (regular, emergency, or non-participation)
- 11-digit FEMA Flood Map Number
- Metropolitan statistical area/metropolitan division (4-5 digit number for census reporting)
- Census tract number (12-digit number for census reporting)
- Community name as identified by FEMA
- 6-digit community number assigned by FEMA
- 5-digit map number (FEMA flood insurance rate map)
- FEMA Flood Map effective date
